While I was jogging late night, I pondered about ...
... worrying for someone
why do we worry for someone? when was the last time i was this worried? maybe i over reacted but i don't regret spilling those words even if it risk drifting further apart. But somehow i still feel lousy after saying those words. Why? Prob because im still worried for the person. Maybe i should learn to mind my own business. Whether i care or not probably doesn't make a difference anyway.
... conforming to a culture that i don't think is right
truth is wat the culture of an organisation is to you, is largely affected by the culture of the people you spend a high proportion of the time with. it can be a culture or an attitude that the organisation doesn't support at all. but if that people you are with are stained with this culture or point of view, be it just a few individuals, it can stain the lens u see the organisation, people's expectation on you and how you are expected to behave even if it means undermining the true you.
its very easy just to conform. its easy to stick around and pray it won't happen to you. its also easy to avoid when it does. but its not easy to while staying in the stream, stand firm on ur ground, filter the expectations and decide to not let the culture affect you.
that's why what is wise is to be wise about our choice of company in the first place. but then, this does seem to go against the virtue that we should love people, all kinds of people.
time for my weary mind to rest.

Hey bro, think I know what you mean. Yah, it's not easy to stand firm in a culture you don't think is right. Yah, no culture is perfect. But God's Word IS perfect, and only His Word can give us the understanding that we need to navigate the tricky aspects of this culture.
Personally, think one reason I have this culture is because I fear, in a sense, being contaminated by "love-the-worldly-ways" ethics and mentalities. It is SO easy to get caught up in the things of this world, that we forget who we really are and where we're headed - "aliens and strangers on earth" - to put it this way.
Yet, at the same time, we are called to step out into the world, make a difference and show that our God is an extraordinary God. Jesus Himself put this dilemma in this way, that we are "in the world, but not of the world".
Well, guess maybe I might have gotten the whole culture thing mixed up, talking at cross-purposes, but I remember Eric Liddell's words (think you read abt him before?): "God made me to run. And when I run, I feel His pleasure." So want to encourage you, bro, when we do what He made us to do, we do in such a way as to feel His pleasure. For everything of our lives was meant to bring glory and honour to Jesus. :)
Just share with you - think I'm being influenced by you - realised that I'm starting to think of starting up my own company too. Ha, it's all your fault - I'll share more wif you next time we meet up again. :D
Love in Christ,
YA
=)
just remember that whether you like the "organisation" or not, you do love the people.
